OCRadar looks for early signs of oral cancer in a photo of your mouth, taken on an ordinary phone camera.
Overview
Oral cancer is highly treatable when it's caught early, but the early signs are easy to miss if you aren't a clinician, and most people go unscreened between dental visits. You photograph the inside of your mouth, a CNN running on Azure AI Custom Vision classifies the image at 98% accuracy, and the app tells you in plain language whether it's worth getting looked at.
It's a team project. I joined in 2024 as COO and lead developer for Android and Windows, and I worked on the backend and the computer vision model as well. The Android app is Flutter and Dart; iOS is native Swift and SwiftUI.
The point is to get you to a dentist sooner, not to replace one. It flags what looks worth checking, and a professional takes it from there.
